Riding Lessons

• An effective rider must be able to communicate with the horse. You must understand what the horse is thinking, why it is thinking in the way it is, and in turn you must be able to communicate with it.  We look at each horse, its history, capabilities, and demeanor and design a riding program to fit each individual rider.  
  
• The main goal is to train you and the horse you are riding to be a safe and confident team.  If this is your first time riding and you do not own a horse, we have many horses that we use for lessons from beginner to advanced. 
  
• If you own a horse and need some help, we will tailor a program to fit your individual goals. 

• Whether it is a mother/daughter, father/son or family learning to ride or individuals, we ensure safety above all else while having fun.
• Lessons are available all year long depending on weather and ground conditions (if you can put up with the cold or wet conditions, so can we).  Group lessons are limited to five people per group.

• Basic horsemanship begins in the barn with getting to know the horse and moves to the round pen for the first ride.
• We focus on balance and building rider confidence.  
• We focus on communication between the horse and rider.
• Focus on leadership.

At Lazy B: Private Lesson(s) $40 per lesson/person

Group/Family $35 per person/lesson

• The lessons are usually 60-90 minutes per session. The time may vary depending upon the individual or group.  We customize the lessons to the goals of each student/ parents/rider.

Off Ranch: Private Lesson(s) $75 per lesson Group/Family $65 per person/per lesson 

• Off ranch lessons are available if you have a horse you want to work with and do not want to trailer to Lazy B.  These are at least one hour in length per session.

• Come prepared for the weather, riders tend to get warmer during lessons so removable layers are best.  Long pants such as jeans or leggings, and close toed shoes such as sneakers or boots.  During the winter months please dress accordingly and bring gloves.  
• A water bottle is always recommended.   
• We provide helmets.  Helmets are required for those under 18 years of age.  If you want purchase your own helmet, we can recommend several places to purchase equestrian helmets.  Bicycle helmets are not allowed and are not designed for horseback riding.  

• We understand that sometimes life can be unpredictable and unexpected things come up.  We ask that a 2 hour notice be given for all cancelled lessons. 
• We will be pleased to reschedule and work with you to ensure you meet your goals and reschedule. 
• In the event that the weather is too severe for everyone to safely travel to and from the barn or the ground is too wet to go on the trails, we will contact you about rescheduling. 
• Heat index is also a factor for summer riding.  If the index is too high, we may reschedule for the safety of the riders and horses.
